What type of beading is this called and approx year ?

If you hadn't said it was beaded (and I hadn't looked closely), I would have assumed it was a 1940s textural crocheted cord bag like @thespectrum has for sale (etsy.com/listing/1075892778/vintage-40s-black-popcorn-crochet-purse).

Wendy @Vintagepursegal do you have any ideas about this one?
 
Oh yes me too! I love Corde bags, so unique. I have had quite a few cords bags dating to the 40s/50s. I'm wondering if this is slightly earlier, but I'm not an expert. Hopefully a vintage hand bag expert will be along shortly :)
