Need help with antique black shawl.

I need help dating this antique shawl. It is black silk with a woven square pattern. Could it be a mourning shawl? Thanks so much!

Shawls are so hard to date! If you made me guess, I'd hesitate to narrow it down much more than 1875 - 1910. Not much help, there. And it's subdues enough with the black on black is could have been worn for mourning, although black was a mainstay for many ladies who weren't in mourning.
