need help with beaded necklace--dating and material

So, I have a beautiful beaded necklace--the tiny beads are either glass or stone. Any thoughts on which (or how to tell the difference)? It has a box clasp. I know there were a lot of multistrand necklaces from the 1960s, but weren't a lot of them plastic rather than glass/stone? The "weight" of this one makes me think earlier, but I honestly don't know. Thanks in advance! My jewelry knowledge is still limited.

I love rodocrosita (I can only think of it by the Spanish name, as I first saw it in South America). It's the most wonderful pink. I had no idea there were glass imitations. How lovely.

I have a small silver pendant of real rodocrosita - a translucent dark pink piece. It's one of my favourite pieces of jewellery.
