Need help with dating and brand of Great grandmother's 1940-1950 3 piece alligator luggage

If it's Bridgeport Alligator Luggage, you have enough to research online for value... there are several pieces for sale on eBay and such. IF you plan on selling it, check with your state's Fish & Game to see if you can sell this. There's a ban on selling or importing alligator and crocodile in some places.

As for dating... this looks 1940s, perhaps 30s. What is the patent #?
 
How wonderful that you have these. I have 2 pieces from my mother's honeymoon set from the late 1940s and yours look identical. Although it is hard to tell just from the photos. Can you show a close up of the leather? My set is not alligator, it is embossed/pressed leather made in an alligator pattern. Your "skin" looks more like embossed leather than real alligator, but I cannot be sure.

I treasure my set, be sure to store them well so they do not dry out or mildew.
