Hi,

I am a wardrobe stylist and I recently used a few items in an editorial photoshoot that I need to get the dates for for publication submission and consideration.

I think the opera coat is 50s but it has no tag-age whatsoever, it appears hand made and it very heavy...the material itself has a raised brocade feel to it.

Any ideas on what era it is and what material that is?

yes that is a blue auction tag on the hem I forgot to remove LOL these are not edited so it's OK!

Nice coat! I agree with '50s, perhaps late '50s. Nice back detailing.

The fabric could be a brocade, probably rayon or perhaps wool - can you tell from the feel or smell of it? I find that wool has a distinctive smell when you wet it.

Thanks guys. I am 99% sure it could not be wool. It has a smooth almost glossy finish and feel. That and although it is lovely interms of design the construction is actually pretty crappy (not very well put together issues at the sleeve cutt with the lining bubbling out and with the coat lining attachment/very flimsy stich) so I doubt that they would cut corners on construction and then spend on wool...yah know?
