Hello,

I recently was privileged to receive lots of wonderful vintage dresses, purses and suits made by some very nice designers. I am in the process of taking pictures and will list them for sale. I have a question about two of them....on the blue dress, I am thinking this is a silk linen blend. Do you think I am correct? Also, I do not know what to call the quilted and embroidered fabric of the red suit. It feels like cotton or a blend but I am not sure. Also, I do not know anything about Mr. Stanley Collection. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I guess you saw the VFG label resource entry for Harvey Berin, right?

Looks like a lovely linen or linen blend to me. And of course, they were known for high quality fabrications, as your lovely dress shows.

Stanley Korshak is a store name, as you probably know, and I believe Mr. Stanley may have been a line offered exclusively at the stores.

A little history, from the Stanley Korshak site:
"In case you were wondering, there really was a Stanley Korshak. He opened a namesake general merchandise store in Chicago circa 1909 that grew to carry European luxury goods. The Chicago store closed in the early Eighties, and Dallas oil heiress Caroline Rose Hunt bought the rights to the name. She opened Stanley Korshak as a designer clothing store in the courtyard of shops at the Crescent Hotel in Dallas in 1986. Hunt hired Brock to manage it in 1987, and he has shepherded it since."

Thank you.....Do you have a suggestion as to how to describe the red fabric? Quilted, embroidered?
