Need Help With Vintage Alligator Shoes

About 1946? I'm pretty sure that is not alligator though, but stamped leather.

Thanks everybody! They are actually my Mom's shoes. She thinks they are 30's but I didn't think that old!

Definitely 40s - middly... They do look like they are stamped (boarded) rather than real gator, but its hard to tell for sure.

I would venture to say that it is embossed leather as well. It looks like alligator but genuine alligator has less uniformity in the pattern and umbilical scarring is generally present which looks like a little star or webbing somewhere within the pattern that manufacturers over time have made sure to include for identification purposes which I do not see in these shoes.
