Need help with vintage Motor Racing jacket

Hey there, thanks in advance for any help. Just about to look into selling and would like to be more certain of myself before I do.

I have a "No Claim" Racing jacket that I really can't tell whether or not is vintage from 1968 as it is marked, or if it is kinda a retro piece from when that style came back around in the 80's..

If you need more info just ask, any help is much appreciated. There are no other tags aside from the main one.

Whoever made this didn't notice the typo. No Claim's. I'm guessing it's a knock off?

I wouldn't know, but my question would then be - a knockoff of what?

Also, I know this came from a place where it has been sitting for quite a few years - probably 15 or more. So it's not a recent knockoff if anything. And the metal and exterior (vinyl?) shows definite and genuine age. I'm no clothing expert at all, but have been around vintage items for some time as well as antique restoration. It is definitely not a new item.. Beyond that, I don't know.

Some more info - the zipper bodies and teeth, as well as the marked button top are pot metal and not steel.

I also have more pics I could post if it helps..

I agree that it's old, the question is how old? You can see the wear on the collar.

It's tempting to date it as '68 because of the motif, but the size is XL and I'm not even sure if they had that size back then - it's something I associate with 1980s onwards. Here's an idea: measure it and if it's a modern size XL it's likely to be '80s-modern and if it's more like a modern Large, then it could be older.

My feeling is that it's probably '80s. Here's another idea. Did anything special happen at Daytona in '68 that would be worth celebrating in future years, and also, can you tell if the motif is original or perhaps taken off an earlier jacket and sewn onto this one?

Actually, looking at the collar label again, it looks like the brand is "No Claim's [sic] Daytona Racing '68 Carracing Ltd Second Edition". So I doubt the '68 is the year it was made, it's just the maker's name.
