Need more info on Ernie label hat

I was at an indoor flea market a few years ago and fell in love with a vintage hat. I'm trying to find some information on it. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

It's a brown wool. Rounded top with rounded brim that comes to a point. There's a brown ribbon that holds on a veil, with a bow tied at the point. The pointed end also holds some black feathers.

The inside label says, "Ernie" and there's a serial code, I think, "WPL 5039" (best guess). And "100% wool".

I'd like to know more about the make and circa.

I can post a picture, if needed. Just ask.

Hi,

It sounds like a classic Eugenie tri-corner adaption style, which has been popular every 20 years or so since the 1860s, very much so in the the 1930s and early 1940's, and most recently in the late 1980s and early 1990s. To date it more to a specific decade, we would need a photo of the hat and especially of the label as Nicole had said above. I am not familiar with Ernie as a label but it could be a small town hat maker or specialty lady's shop.

Hi,

Now that you show the label, I have seen that one before...I remember that cute way they dotted the "I". It is the style I thought you had described, and I agree that even thought that exact style was popular and made up into the early 1990's, the label does look late 70's to early 80's to me also. It is a wonderful style. B
