Need One Very Small Satin-Covered Button

Hi all, I'm in dire need of a 1/4" (no bigger) satin-covered button, like you'd find on a wedding dress back or sleeve, or on an infant's outfit. I need a black one, but white or ivory is fine, as I can color it with a fabric marker. It needs to be a slight half-round (half-dome, really); just a bit of height to it. I can find tons of 3/8" or 1/2", but they're too big! It's for a fabulous 50's crepe cocktail dress with beaded "spray" accents; this wee button forms part of the base of the spray. One came off in cleaning, and could not be found. I've been all over looking for one, but nobody carries one so small. Even the seamstress at the cleaner's doesn't have one in her stash. If all else fails, I'll take it to the old Italian tailor downtown, but I never can find the time to go down there.... TIA!

I have a black 1/4" covered dome button with a tuft back. But it's faille, not satin.

Will that help?

Hollis, if the dome is shallow enough, I could probably use it! The tufted back is perfect for what I need. I have some satin here I can glue onto it. The biggest problem has been finding the size--even the old Italian tailor downtown didn't have, and couldn't get a 1/4" size. The only 1/4" buttons I can find have been regular shirt buttons, which are totally wrong for this!

If it's a high dome, it won't be right, but a slight rise to it is perfect. Please let me know! THANK YOU!

I measured again - it's 1/16" bigger thana 1/4" . If that will still do, U2U me with your mail addy and I will drop it in the post!

I didn't have anything in my small collection of my grandmother's so sorry..... good luck in your search....

FYI;

Fabric stores usually carry buttons in packages that are ready to cover.

Also if you get a button similar in size, they are easy to cover, you just need a small piece of matching fabric and cut the fabric into a small circle..make a tacking stitch around the circle and place over button then pull taught, you may need to do this a couple of times to get the correct size circle of fabric..you really do not want much excess so as to keep the underside of button neat, you can always glue any frayed edges flat onto underside of button...good luck
