Need some coat help please

First rain coat: mid 60's? And I can't figure out how to describe the fabric. Velvet collar and covered buttons. Plaid cotton??? but its like the dark red plaid has a smoky wash color over it. Its very hard to describe

If it were me, i would find a way to scan the material on the first one, i had no idea it was plaid from the pic..looks solid to me.

On the last one

Is it more of a repro....?

Perhaps it is just a really classy, classic style that was producd year after year..or came and went every so often. There are classics...like the pea coat that come back into popularity every few years...though they really don't disappear because they are a classic...

My mother even had a coat with a similar line in the 90s, and one other time earlier and i forget when that was...but it was in a pic and i can't remember the year..

I am going to vote for the coat with the collar but without cuffs. For some reason I think the cuffs look a bit bulky.

As for the asymetrical button holes, I just sold a scarlet 1950s wiggle dress & matching bolero with those same button holes. Does this help you determine the age of your coat? Maybe not, but it might....

Well, just to be as unhelpful as possible, ha ha, I like the camel-colored coat without fur. Somehow the pockets on the front just don't seem to me like they go with shaping of the fur.

I don't think the labels on the last one look terribly new either. Isn't that helpful? From those, I'd think it could easily be either 40s or 50s, though I don't know to guess between them. The buttons look like they could possibly be bakelite. ? Does it have shoulder pads?

Let's see - the first one is styled like a Chesterfield (with the velvet collar) - a real menswear look.

Camelhair - I vote for no fur. It's so lovely and classic on its own.

I love the last one - I'm guessing late 40's/early 50's, but take that with a grain of salt ~

The striped one looks like a mid to late 50's label to me but I think it is a late 40's coat. Yes there is padding in the shoulders. Its definetly not a new coat sorry if I was so confusing.

Oh and Maureen thanks for taking the time to post the pic. Cute outfit too!
