Need some date help on WHITING DAVIS Purse...

The size and handle want me to think late 30's or early 40's....am I off base?

Measures 5"x5" with the 3 1/2" mesh handle. Any name other than an evening bag?

Looks like that timeframe to me, from the handle. And this looks as if it's in beautiful condition--the lining is very pretty! I think I'd just call it a Whiting & Davis 30s/40s Gold Evening Bag, Mesh Handle (if that fits); with the W & D name, you probably don't need to get too creative with keywords.....

Just remember...whiting and davis halted production during the war because the materials for the metal mesh were used in the war effort. I always finds it helps me in dating to think if the bag has more in common with a 50s bag or a 30s bag to date it. Other maker's 40s bags are sometimes harder to date precisely as they made them for a more continuous number of years.
