Hello Everyone, I'm new here and am so glad I found your site!!! I have a gorgeous Chanel suit I could use some help with...

This comes from a friends collection- The pics don't do it justice, the true color is a very soft sage green. I will re-shoot once I have a mannequine again...

Anyway, two piece suit in goat skin. Tag matches the one from 2003 on this site (no pic yet). It's in excellent condition. But, it does have a small pin size spot on the back of one sleeve and slight soiling on the inside of the cuff.

We live in a very rural area and I don't think I would trust the cleaners here to touch this. Any suggestions?

Will this affect the value? What is a ballpark value? What should I start it at? Should I do auction or set price? I've had some nice pieces, but never anything like this!!! HELP!!! I really don't want to mess this up!!! :help:

It will be expensive to have it cleaned by a leather/suede cleaner. I think I would disclose and let buyer pay.

Is the soil on the inside of the cuff on suede or lining. If it's lining, you might be able to clean just the inside a little.

If the spot on the elbow is really a pin spot, I would disclose and show next to a dime. Stand back 10 feet and see if you can see it. If not, say it isn't visible ten feet away. It really is a lovely suit.

Good luck. Claire

Thanks Claire... The soil is on the suede, I hadn't really noticed it before this morning, it's right at the edge. I think the spot may be taken care of, I scraped it a smidge with my thumbnail and it's not visible at all now! Yeah!!!

I concur about the cleaners... This is just so special that I would want the best and that probably won't be found on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. And, I bet it would be very expensive...

Disclose issues and let it fly~

I used to stress over things I had that were wonderful 'except for' whatever. The pile would get so big and I would always put off tending to whatever issue was keeping each item from being spectacular. I'm finally getting better at getting things into the hands of people who will actually do what is necessary to bring something back to life~

Very cool suit, by the way:USETHUMBUP:

Sharon, thanks for the advise... I just know that this is probably the only time I will have an item like this and want to do it right for my friend. Any suggestions as to starting price or what I can expect to see for an item like this? In the little research I've done, I haven't seen any suede suits, so don't have any real comparisons...

Thanks, Karen
