Need TITLE Help on Black Party Dress....

I'm coming up blank, and its got such great details. The way the skirt is done, the seaming.....the bottom of the zipper hidden behind one of the panels of the skirt's "peaks" that snaps shut over it, deep V back & bow....HOW do I create a title that conveys how amazing this dress is? Its a Samuel Grossman, not that that will help. I refuse to let this one go for pennies but I don't feel like the gallery is going to grab attention (another black dress) so the title is crucial. Help??? Thanks!! Ang

Good Morning Ang
How many gores are in the skirt? Perhaps you could mention the couture quality, fitted torso w (fill in the blank with number)fancy gored skirt for extra fullness. I am trying to recall what this type of gore is called and will post if I remember. This is a absolutely stunning dress...just my taste. Love it. Other terms that come to mind are extremely sophisticated, high fashion...but I'm sure you have thought of all of these already-Lorinda

I can count the gores at the shop......I'm at home right now. The skirt is actually a full circle of fabric, so I guess I can put circle skirt in the title....bow.....what other searched KW apply and make sense? I'd love to know what type of gore it is, I'm not too swift on the more specific terms.....I should grab the Fairchild's & take it to the shop w/ me! Thanks Lorinda!

you know, Ang, it IS another black dress, but the silouette is SO dramatic with the gorgeous FULL SKIRT...i know that's one of the things (the silouette, that is) that catches MY eye when i'm browsing... but you're absolutely right, keywords bring in the hits and the buyers.

are you doing this on Babylon? or ebay????

Hi Ang
I am still trying to recall the gore technique. This may be a fluted panel dress meaning the seaming around the torso opens into, in this case, a gored full skirt.
I know others seek the key words like "full skirt" "new look" in their keyword searches but when I see the technical or dressmaker terms for a dress I find myself compelled to read it. I think your photo alone speaks a thousand words ..

Well, I'm trying to get back into the swing on eBay. I used to feature an item a week and have at least 10 similar era things listed and it really was a good formula. Opening the shop has really fractured my focus and I got away from it.....when I did it again a few weeks ago it didnt seem to work as well, and I dont know if its because I lost prescence while I was distracted or if its Ebay thats not going well. I was thinking about featuring this and listing a few party/prom dresses the same week.

But I am scared to!!!!!

Meantime, while I find the nerve, I was going to at least get it into my store (eBay). Babylon and I arent meshing well, I dont have time. I could put it on my site but things more slower there......I'm still really struggling to find the right balance in general.

The answer I guess right now is eBay, store! Oh, and it has 8 gores. Its a fabulous dress, I've seen it on someone and its gorgeous w/ crinoline or without!

If its any consolation Ang I have always followed your auctions even before joining the vfg. So don't despair there are probably lots of people waiting for you to be a regular presence again.
Nonetheless, I find the 50's items have much more competition then a year ago when I first started selling on eBay.You always do a wonderful job with your photography so you will always catch b the buyer's eye.
I find my shopowners /buyers in NYC all want the knit 60's and 70's items so that is what I have catered to for a few months now because they are my bread and butter.
