Neiman Marcus suit - need help dating!

I have come across this lovely Neiman Marcus suit. All I know of it is what the suit itself is telling me. (That and the owner had consistent great taste - got an Akris suit at the same time, since it's the same size, I'm assuming it was the same woman.) The photos don't show it, but a surprising number of the lining seams are hand-done. In the jacket, not only the armcye (which I'd expect), but also some of the side seams. In the skirt, the waistband lining is all hand-done. And I love the addition of the gold chain around the jacket hem, it adds a lovely swing and stability.

I'd love help dating this! I'd add the labels into the label archive once there's a concensus. If anyone cares to offer opinions about value, I'd be interested on that, too.

[I told it to insert as thumbnails because the newbie info suggested that. If folks need to see larger, let me know and I'll re-post.]

Many thanks! neimantag.JPGneiman1.JPGneiman2.JPGneimanchain.JPG

I think it is 1980s, from the textures, buttons and the label also matches the one in the resource already for a 1980's dress. I would say it is worth dry cleaning this, though you may have to remove trims before doing so.

P.S. we can see the full size pictures by clicking on your thumbnails, it just means the page is easier to load straight away.

It looks like a Chanel copy or if 80s, a knock-off. Chanel did not license copies after Alain Wertheimer became ceo in mid-70s.

What do the buttonholes look like? Are they thread--machine made or hand? Are they different on the facing.

Is that a princess seam or dart on the front. If a princess seam, where does it intersect the shoulder?
