Hi Everyone!!
I've enjoyed reading posts here for some time and am excited to finally have something to add!
I recently purchased this 1930 silk dress (I haven't tested the fabric, seller said silk) and absolutely love it but once I received it realized that the long metal zipper running down the center back put the age into question. It has ruching down the front on the sash which continues up the stomach and on the sleeves (which are accented with bows). The attached sash runs across the front comes to the back with a bow that has snaps so the zipper can run behind it. It stays narrow through the hips then flairs out, is slightly longer in the back than front and hits mid calf (I'm 5'2''). It is home made (raw edges finished with bias tape) with shoulder pads. The metal zipper is marked SERVAL and runs the entire length of the back (which is great for getting over broad shoulders but maybe not for staying true to the age of the dress). I also wasn't sure about the print and if it would be true to the era. I spent very little for the dress and no matter when it was made I'll enjoying wearing it, I'd just love to know more!
And I apologize for the awkward hanging on the back of a door photos, unfortunately it doesn't fit on my dress form. I can post pictures of it on me if seeing the shape better would help establishing age.
Thank you for your help!
