Nina Ricci Dress - not vintage but I\'d like to ask a few questions anyway!

I have this Nina Riccia dress. I am pretty sure it is a newer dress, at least 70's but maybe 2000's - I cannot find this label anywhere, but you guys seem to know your designers, fabrics, sewing questions, etc.

Here it is - it is wrinkly but it is pristine:

Is this couture or just boutique? Would you sell this on E-bay or take it to a consignment shop?

I have another similar dress but I am pretty sure it is couture as it is all hand finished.

Hi, lovely dress!

My guess is 80s or later - getting an 80s feel with the beaded appliqué, but I'd wait for more experienced people to come along. Same goes for the label, I don't think it's couture as couture is usually numbered

I'm thinking that at minimum it came from the Paris Boutique as the other attached tag is all in French. And I was thinking perhaps 80's but it could be current too.

No real help on the date but something is giving me a 90s vibe. Great dress! It would be lovely for a formal Christmas party.

"Paris Boutique as the other attached tag is all in French."

The label looks as if it was made for export and French only tags could possibly be seen in several countries including here in Québec.

This was probably from the Paris Boutique. The label is not haute couture. There would be less hand sewing and it would have been sold off the rack, not custom made for the purchaser. That said, it is really lovely! Claire

Is that an invisible zipper? If so, that would make it pretty recent...I don't recall seeing invisible zippers before the '90s.

There are actually two zippers - both are metal but I do believe that this is from the late 80's to the mid nineties.

Nina Ricci is one of the haute couture houses left in France and new this dress, even ready to wear, was probably upwards of 3K. After researching I really don't think this is that old and that is actually a good thing.

Lovely dress...I would say late 80s

It should sell well as the label is enjoying a renaissance after signing up Olivier Theyskens, with his first collection for the house in spring summer 07. He previously designed for Rochas.

So you think Vintage? How does one tell with these type of dresses? They have the same details it seems as the newer ones. I have another dress and it also has a metal zipper but I do see that Eclair is still making the metal zippers for the nicer clothing coming out of Europe. Other than style what is a give away? Because I am thinking the other dress is vintage because of the material used - this one I wasn't so sure.

Thank you for that link. What an interesting guy. I think I'll list the dress as vintage late 80's - I cannot find any other label that looks like this one, and especially not in any of the newer stuff.
