Tahari started in 1974 - and so did the barcode! Is that a skirt, a skort or shorts on the hanger? I don't remember early - mid-'70s long coats and short skirts but that doesn't mean anything, and of course it could be more recent. Are there any more labels and/or a care label? Does it fit/measure like a current size 6 or is it larger?
We have one entry about Tahari in the VFG Label Resource:
The Nordstrom tag is also a clue: https://vintagefashionguild.org/label-resource/nordstr/
That's the style of font they used from 1981 to 2019. To me, this looks like a 1990s piece. It's quite interesting, with that long jacket and short skirt—and the fabric looks beautiful.
Agree the skirt style is late 80s into the early 90s. The price of 88.00 seems very inexpensive for a Tahari suit (or even just the jacket) even for that time frame.
I stand corrected... the Tahari website states the label was started in 2001, but it seems that is wrong ?
Still, I agree with Suzanne there, if that is a skirt, the mini skirt with no waistband is a newer style. Late 90s to early 00s was when these no-waistband skirts were suddenly everywhere. I hated them, as it so doesn't work if you actually have a waist and hips .
It is a skirt with about 1/4” waistband. The skirt has the size 6 tag on it and it’s about a 26” waist and 36” hip, so I would definitely say a newer (last couple decades) size 6. I was trying to decide between 90’s or 2000’s.
The fabric content says 38% acetate, 34% acrylic and 28% wool. Made in the u.s..a.
