This was from a while back -- PBS even used it in an advertisment for the Antiques Road Show, with the clip of Don Ellis saying what the value was and then it cut back to the living room with the TV on and some guy with a bowl of cereal in his hand looking over at the couch at a white and black striped blanket with the dog sleeping on it... it was very funny.
 
wow, i have never seen that clip before, that is SO cool ( i just about teared up...) and Jonathan, that is hiLARious that it was used in an ad like that; :lol: so clever!
 
I bet he walked in with it just a wadded up old blanket and probably shook nervously the whole way home.
I have to say I got a touch misty there, too.

There was an old guy years and years ago that brought in some old salesman's sample or advert piece to the roadshow. It was an oversized mug, some sort of root beer or other obscure sudsy drink. His wife wanted to go to the show, so he grabbed this old mug thing that his grandma used to keep string bits and ties in. Turned out to be worth thousands. Apparently she'd not had a nickle her whole life, and ended up giving him this "old thing" worth a bunch of cash.
I like those stories.
