Hey all! I've got another one for you that's left me a bit on the fence. I can't tell exactly when this top is from. I want to say 60s because of the silhouette, but for some reason I think it may be earlier. I haven't done a thread test yet but the fabric on the shell is crepe-y, maybe rayon, and the inside is possibly silk. I haven't been able to find anything similar. As you can see it has big fabric buttons and smocking at the wrists and hem. The print is THE SWEETEST scenes of Paris. I love it, I'm pretty upset it ended up not fitting me :( Any help you can give would be super awesome!!! Thank you! Also, there's no labels anywhere, so that's no help.

haha no worries. Yeah I've recently found an example of a 40s blouse with very similar style buttons up the back and its the closest thing I can find to dating. The buttons do have a patent stamping on the back - I'll have to see if that rabbit hole goes anywhere.

Yeah I don't know. The crop top was a staple of the 60s but the fabric and the details push me to think 40s. I've actually found a few more slightly similar examples that are from the late 40s / 50s that look like this one and the style of the print doesn't fit with the 60s (in my mind) even though the silhouette is stereotypical. & I don't doubt it came with a skirt - if only I had found that it would have given a stronger care to era! The buttons say GRIPPO PAT PENDING. If anyone is an ace at tracking down info and could help find out about those buttons it might help.

I think it's '60's also although earlier '60's - Jackie Kennedy era. The fabric, while not cotton or linen looks like a "toile de jouy" from the 1960's - possibly 1950's but the blouse looks early 1960's to me. I agree that it probably had a matching skirt.

The '30's blouse you show is not the same silhouette and does not fit as as close to the body.

Nice find - sorry it does not fit!

Interesting, thanks for the info! I agree the cropping is much more 60s at the 30s took a longer line down since it was still working on pulling the waist up from the 20s drop waist. I guess that settles it! Thank you all!!
