Novelty Garter...

Hi, I am wondering if anyone has ever seen a garter like this? Is it Victorian? The back is marked, it is hard to read, but I do see the word Eljo's.

I have seen suspenders with this sort of jacquard weave in them, if you google Calvin Curtis you may find out about this piece. There are a lot of suspenders by him.

Thanks, I looked it up and there was a 1950 ad with a pair very similar, maybe mine is Calvin Curtis but the name is just worn off.

It's a lonely and much loved sock garter.

I love sock garters: yours looks like it was a naughty one, a bit risque. They were used up until the '40s I think, or at least that correlates with the ages of the ones I've found. Yours looks like it might be Edwardian or '20s.
