Hi Mary and thank you for the reply.
I have been working on my 70s collection this morning and this dress is in that collection, so my guess was 70's based on fabric, pattern and design but the nylon material is unlike any other dress I have encountered, it is more like 70's robe material. I didnt even like it that much until I dropped it on the dress form and "had a moment with it" Still this one seemed as if it could possibly be more modern and I wanted to see if the general consensus was the same as mine without my pre exisiting thoughts. It is in fact one of my first vintage pieces purchased with resale in mind.
I researched the history of nylon material, read the wikipedia as well as read a thesis from a fashion design college that someone had posted about nylon fabric, but still this dress is unusual. It has no lining, seems literally brand new and most nylon dresses I have found from the 70s have at least one snag. So I have done my research... I am not just counting on the people of this forum to do it for me, I promise *smile*. I am in fact sort of a researchaholic, (my dog who has been begging to go out for an hour now, while I do research, can attest to that!)
I have a few more like this... that I believe I know, but am not 100%... I hope it isn't annoying that I post and ask, since I am just gearing up and there are wardrobes full.
Just wait until I get into my 30s - 50s collection... that stuff seems to stump me a lot. I'm leaving that until the end since a great deal of it is untagged and rather daunting. I'm from the 70s so it is a little easier for me to define those.
I literally have hundreds of pieces I have collected that I am going through on the weekends to get photographed, measured, dated and posted, so I may be asking a lot of questions this month *smile* Don't get me started on the 100s of shoes and boots... is there a vintage shoe and boot site? hahaha
Thanks again.. am really happy to have found this site... I use the label guide constantly!
