Ok, I am humbly asking for help one more time

If you only knew how many times I "wasn't" asking for help...;)

Does this looks 60's? The lable says "Hartzfelds" which I know was a high dollar clothing store in Kansas City that closed in the early 80's. There are no other tags. If you have any suggestions on a description, that would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Is it a dress, or a coat over a dress? In any case it looks very Ritzy, Black Tie, ummm.... I'm the absolute worst at this sort of thing, sorry.

The ruffles look like organza. Organza's a good word!

Like I said, I'm the worst at this :BAGUSE: - but I know someone will be along with some useful ideas ~

Can you scan or take a clear photo of the label? You can tell a ton of information just by the style of the label. The ruffle around the neck makes me lean into 60s, but there are other factors to consider for sure.

That almost fits into also the "Elegant Goth Lolita" look in a way for me. Check out the feature from halloween on Goth in the workshop or Q&A thread...i forget which for that. I like Carolyn's "ritzy" take on it too.

It looks like a cusper to me, c. 1969-71 when all that romantic neo-Edwardian look is popular, probably worn with buckled pilgrm shoes, tinted stockings and hair pulled back tight into a big bun with tendrils at the temples. Natural look make-up with long nails done in pale pink and lots of lashes...oh, and BIG glitzy dinner rings, and maybe a choker.

I was going to say early 70s.

Wow, Jonathan, I can just see that dress on somebody now!

I think it's great but if you want the truth about who I *see* wearing it, it would have to be the singer Prince!

The sad part is, I am being totally serious!!

Purple Rain and all...............

Wow! You guys are amazing. I enjoy reading your descriptions as much as I enjoy looking at the dress. I haven't had time to photograph the tag. It is a one piece dress. It still hanging on the manni and my boys keep walking by it saying. "Mom, you're not going to sell that dress are you? It's too cool! You should wear it" ....I can by with a little leeway with my interpretation of the "corpaorate casual" dress code at work but this one might be pushing it:o

Is it just me? - can anyone else imagine Princess Margaret in that dress?? - it seems SO her! - and Jonathan's wearer description fits her to a T!!!! ;-)
