Cotton lilac dress ....would you call it a party dress?

This paisley print trapeze dress, is it mod?

This is not an empire waist is it? The seam actually sits on the bust line.

It has the same big pleat down the back with covered buttons on top bodice.

Ok this one, I really don't know what to do with. It is used and has some minor snags and some faint discoloration under the arms. The problem is, it is hemmed up like 7". You can see a faint crease where the original hem would have been so it actually should be about 4" or 5" longer. There is no way I can let the hem down and redo it, it would take me forever because the dress is made of large flat pleats.

This big chiffon bow really makes the dress, but it is a size 5 and I don't know if it is worth the trouble listing it. I assume it is 50's??? Back metal zipper.

Ok any input would be appreciated, off to take more photos

I would call the pink paisley a tent dress (or that is what we called it in the South:) ). I believe it is 60s.

The lilac one could have actually been worn as an Easter dress or church dress. Thinking 60s on it, too.

Don't know what to tell you about the last one but I really like it. I think I would just admit all flaws and let new owner do what they want to.

Thanks! I just got done ironing some great 40's one, but I don't need any help on those.

I am going to try and get them all quickly listed, shovel the walks one more time and then .....hey where is our little alchie icon??? Anyway guess you know what I am going to be doing soon!

i am agreeing w/Linda...i IMMEDIATELY thought, "oh, what a sweet Easter spring dress!!" :love008: but am thinkin late 50's maybe/early 60's OH and its DEADSTOCK!! ooo!

i am just remembering, tho, my sister was BIG in the bow thing fora while, too...that was early 60's wasn't it??

this is EXACTLY my thoughts on it!! it looks SO totally sweet, if it were bigger i'd snap it up in a heartbeat!!!:horny:

oh, uh, and the paisley one, in my "Vogue Sewing" book it is referred to as a "yoke" silhouette, but it definetly has a tent fullness to it. doesn't really stike me as mod so much as girl-next-door? neat stuff! yay for you!:clapping:

I'd use "full skirt party dress" on that first one (bread and butter style dresses for me!)

Empire or dolly on the second? Not my forte

I'd do a quick list prep on that last one and have it waiting for the next cheap list day, start it low with disclosure on the issues (fixing any quickies you can) and list it as petite length. Hey, if you put in 10 minutes and list it cheap, even if you only make $10 on it, it's still more than nothing.

I just passed about SIX of those paisley dresses in Spring window displays today walking through Midtown!

Tent
Empire
Paisley
Psychedelic
Trapeze (maybe)
Bow

Put them all in your title and watch it go! Check the spring fashion mags & sites and you will see what I mean. Too bad it's not a mini or it would be SIZZLING!! :love008:

Well I have another...the print reminds me of those pinwheels sticks we used to hold in the air!

It is made of a crisp crimped fabric and very bold!

this one looks a lot like the paisley shift, except with sleeves and maybe in a slightly larger size. I can't see the print well, but for some reason, the cut makes me think of the muumuus popular then--close-fitting at the yoke, then swingy and summery!

Don't know why, but even if this style was originally referred to as "tent", that word strikes a derogatory note for me now (ie huge and shapeless, which neither of these are). I actually like "trapeze" or "a-line" better, even if they're not as accurate...

Lovely dresses (the 40s lilac one, too)!
