? on \"N\" marked in shoes

I'm preparing the listing for those red platforms and I double-checked the size and noticed an N floating upwards about an inch away from the 8 (size). I'm assuming that means they are a narrow. I cannot take an accurate measurement across the ball of the shoe because of the bow. Is there another area I can measure, just to be sure?

I was so looking forward to listing a regular size 8, B width shoe.

Thanks!

Hmm...how does the bow interfere with an accurate measurement? I guess i don't understand.

You can give the measurement acrossed the ball of the foot, on the sole of the shoe to give folks an outside measurement. If a stiff tape measure doesn't fit inside, you can use one of the fabric or vinyl ones or a piece of string and then measure the string to get the inside measurement.

FWIW, I always measure the ball of the foot across the bottom of the sole, on the outside. If the sole "overhangs" the body of the shoe by a lot, I will note that in the listing, and try to approximate by how much, e.g., 1/16" on both sides for a 1/8" difference--or whatever. However I usually find that situation only in boots. In dress shoes, the sole usually is flush or nearly so with the foot bottom of the shoe.

This seems to be the easiest way to get a consistent measurement, and as long as you post in your listing how you get the dimensions, a buyer should be able to measure either his/her foot, or a similar style shoe to get a good idea of fit! Hope this helps!

Thanks, Chris. I think I took a ditz pill this morning - like many other mornings. For some reason, I thought I had to measure across the top on the rounded part. It appears to be 3" across at the widest part on the inside. Off to check, but I think that does make it narrow.

Double check the bottom measurement as well.

This may sound strange...but if a shoe is "flat on the ground" at the ball like a platform pump or a more casual style shoe, it does sound rather narrow. If it were the sort of pump where the ball was only partially flat on the ground, and the contact point does not totally relate to the actual width of the foot, it would have a chance to be a medium width.

I'll notify in previews. Promise!!! I'm not satisfied with the pics - they've come out too orangy, and we have another dreary day; so I'm hoping tomorrow will be brighter. Either that or it's the photographer. Tried adjusting white balance, but still not getting the results I want. If not, I'll just use the ones I have and state that they are more red.

They are a narrow though, Chris - 3" widest on the inside.

hi - i have found that a 3 inch measurement of the widest point of the INSOLE ball of the foot is consistent with a medium width.
