I have two other pieces, one I haven't photographed yet, but they are made out of the same fabric. It is a very stiff, heavy fabric that feels alot like my grandmothers old curtains.

I've seen the term barkcloth...could that be it. How do you tell?
I'm posting the skirt. The other item I have is an old hawiian shirt. Thanks again for any help you can give me!

Thanks Chris. I've only been collecting for a few weeks but I can't believe how many things I am finding. I've started putting stuff up on ebay this week. This site has been a wealth of information and I can't believe how friendly and helpful everyone is. I have no fashion background or expertise, only that I LOVE to shop.:love008: I'm reading all the workshops as I get the chance. Great information.

Sometimes that is where it starts :)

I think choosing fashion for yourself to wear can be some very solid fashion experience...getting to know different cuts, what suits you, and fabrics. "Names" are something that you can always learn, it is that basic "eye" or sense for things and sense for quality and uniqueness that can't be taught and many people who find they shop for vintage find that it is just ingrained in them. Looking for better quality can be taught, but you will find later on you might just have a better eye for things than you give credit for.
