Opera cape and 20\'s Dress - dating?

Hello all :)

I picked up a few items recently and am having a bit of trouble with dating and also with pricing - I thought I would post here and see if anyone had any advice.

The opera cape - I haven't actually sold anything like this before, my first guess is early 1900's, but i could be way off? Maybe 20's? The tag reads "O'hara Rochester. (which is where I picked it up). I couldn't find anything on this tag, though. It seems in great condition except for the interior which has several rips. The exterior has no holes/stains.

The dress - I'm thinking 20's? I love the little buttons down the back. :) It has a few small holes (maybe 6?) in the silk chiffon. The lace is in good condition. The underslip seems to be a rayon type material. Not crisp, soft.

I'm confused on what to list them for price-wise. I sorta fell in love with both of them and probably paid too much. Oops. :) But, I'd like to pass them along to someone who would love them.

Thanks!

Hello! These items are gorgeous! They are earlier than most of what I deal with, so can't be of much help to you; sorry. I'll take a stab, though, that the opera coat is maybe late teens. Dunno on the dress.... looks sorta 30s to me, except that fringe on the sleeves. Did it come with a matching underslip?

Hopefully one of our experts in those eras will come along; they know far more than I do!

:) Yeah, I don't usually sell very much from this early... so I'm stumped. The red underslip is what I was told it came with supposedly... it's sort of like a rayon feel though. Which to me seems odd, you would think if the dress was silk, then they would continue that trend with the underslip? I do like the contrasting color, though. :)

I agree - the 30s black dress would have had a full length black slip that would not have showed in the neckline when it was on. It looks early 30s to me - 1931-32ish

Thanks so much! I think now that you told me about the softness, I believe this would be rayon chiffon - it isn't really that soft to the touch.
