This nautical set has two labels. One is this one about washable. It seems to be a linen or linen blend. Does anyone know if this really is washable like it states? The back of the jacket has faint soiling I would like to clean. Or should I leave it alone. Help appreciated.
thanks. Sandy

I have a navy dress suit of similar material and my dry cleaner suggested I hand wash and then bring it back to be pressed (as it is pleated and fitted) Hand washing worked really well, only it was difficult to remember where the stains were when wet as it got so dark, but it does come out rumpled after, hence the pressing!

The jacket had a bit of dust on it so decided to clean it. It came out marvelous.
Would love some help on exact dating (1940s) and perhaps pricing in a range of some sort.
It has a matching belt.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I would need to see a bit more before hazarding a guess. Right now it looks late 40's, but going off one photo is not the best as it could be from a much later date. Do you have any photos of the dress without the jacket? How long is it from shoulder to hem? Are there shoulder pads in either piece? How and where does the dress close?

As far as pricing, the best thing to do would be to check around for similar pieces on line and look at listings that have ended to see the realized selling price.

The jacket has old shoulder pad with like old gray batting? The flaps have like a large buttonhole on each flap.
The dress is 47.0 inches from back of neck to hemline. That is the problem as I do not see much of anything like this online currently at least.
Thank you for your help.

Side zipper that is metal. The seams appear to have pinking shear edges.

This is a photo of the back right above the waist. This is the only issue I can find with this suit. Seems someone took the darts out to give a bit more room.

The measurements roughly on the dress is.
Bust 18,
Waist 14.
Hips 20.25
