Ossie Clark dress on ebay.com

These were pieces he made, possibly for private clients, in the late 70s early 80s.....once he'd discovered sequins and suchlike. He was still actually designing commercially as late as 1977, for Quorum, so there's a possibility they were commercially available as well.

I love the drama of this dress that is listed; it will be interesting to see what happens with the bidding.
vertugarde, thank you for that link! It's heavenly.

Until my ship comes in, this is as close as I may get, with my Celia Birtwell for Express dress!

I have also been watching some of the Ossie Clark Dresses on ebay, and just wondered has anyone ever bought an Ossie Clark dress from e-bay.

I have put a bid on one item up to £200 and the reserve has still not been met, but i am just not prepared to bid any higher without seeing the garment. I have seen the auction results on previous sales of Ossie's dresses, and they seem to be a lot more reasonable than the e-bay prices.

They Ossie Clark dresses for Radley seem to be going for very high asking prices on e-bay, with no bidders purchasing them.

The market has been weakened lately because of the economy and probably also due to the Ossie Clark label being relaunched to a very lukewarm reception. The quality of the pieces on offer on eBay is always very variable. I'm not sure I've seen any truly, truly remarkable pieces on there for a long time.

And the prices have always been up and down. Those sellers will be expecting pre-credit crunch prices, and also expecting retail website prices for their Ossies. Certain, mainly US, sites tend to price even fairly plain Ossies in the thousands of dollars. Kerry Taylor's last auction showed a great variation in prices, and the Sotheby's Avant Garde auction saw one Ossie go for £3,200.

Which listing have you bid on Coral? If it's the Celia print currently on there at the moment, I would hazard a guess the reserve is going to be nearer £400. Which is about right for an eBay Celia Ossie.

I am bidding on the 'Ossie Clark vintage black ladies dress' currently at £205.00, it is an Ossie Clark for Radley, but am not prepared to bid any higher as I recently had a bad experience with a Marion Donaldson dress that I purchased on e-bay but it arrived with the hem damanged and several small holes, that said the seller has been great about it.

I think I will stick to textile recyling warehouses and auctions for my sources.

Great forum by the way!

I bought a fab Ossie black dress (not Radley) last year from ebay (from a REALLY great vintage seller can't remember their ebay id but they also had a website called Heaven Of Gowns with loads of couture dresses on it - I think their website is under construction) * they've changed their name to Eternity Couture http://eternitycouture.com/ ebay ID envisage_eternity

Near mint condition, arrived pristine and is amazing. I agree some of the US auctions for Ossie for Radley are usually quite high, too high.

Thanks Joules! I waited and waited for my dream Ossie to come along, it wasn't cheap (about £400 if I remember rightly) but the seller let me pay by layaway over 3 months. I wanted a classic timeless style and this just ticked all of my boxes. Haven't had the right event to wear it to yet though!
