What do you think these are made from? I can only guess that this is the reverse side of ostrich leather, though I've never seen it used as suede before, that or it's an even more exotic skin I haven't seen yet... they look like mini coffee beans lol.

Thank you Nicole. Sorry Jonathan, I don't know where I picked up that suede idea from but I've just had it in my head for years!

hmm usually when it's an applied pattern I can find a repeated section somewhere but I've not been able to do that with these, although the dots themselves do appear to be identical, with a crow's foot shape crease in the centre of each oval. Do you think they would have gone to the trouble to stamp them individually? The reason I thought it could be Ostrich is the dots are debossed, as though if you turned it over they would be the familiar raised bumps, but I guess a stamp could explain this texture.

Ostrich effect leather then? There is evidence on the back of the left heel that the leather was stamped first and sanded afterwards, thus giving the paler background tone, and lighter rings around the dots that were more heavily done.

Completely intriuged by these. I've never seen Ostrich shoes I have to say, BUT these are just SO goregeous. Lovely shape and colour, I just had to say it!

Hi,

I love the look of these shoes. As a life long ostrich lover and collector myself, I think they are faux ostrich. Of course, I could tell better if I had them in hand. Ostrich leather is one of the strongest leathers on the planet (if not THE strongest), and is highly prized for that quality. Ostrich leather shoes would be expensive. To sand the leather down to a sueded surface would remove many of the qualities that make it so desirable in the first place. But fashion does what fashion does, I guess. Also, the bumps we often call them, are from where the plumes were removed. Unless these were also sanded down, they should be more raised and irregular. Yours look very uniform and smooth. They are great looking shoes whatever they are.
