I've got this thing that can't seem to find its true identity. So far people have suggested:

Bride's cup" or a "marriage cup"
Compote
Footed candy bowl
Card Receiver
Spooner (someone said it definitely was, someone said it definitely wasn't)
Salt cellar
Wassail bowl
Greek Urn
Salt Bowl

It has been suggested that it is:
Art deco
Italian vintage
Renaissance style
Victorian
Baroque
Does anyone know what it really is?

The glass part is about 5 1/2 inches in diameter and about 4 3/4 inches tall (glass only). The entire piece is about 9 3/4 inches tall. The base is 6 7/8 x 3 7/8.

It belonged to my grandmother so I know that it is a minimum of 35+ years old, but probably much older. I really want to get it listed but am trying to wait until I know what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sue

Sue, I would say this is from the Art Nouveau period (1890 - 1914).

I don't know a lot about items that are not 'soft' (i.e. not clothing, textiles,
etc.) but I'm pretty positive this is not a salt cellar, or greek urn.

Hopefully someone will come along to help you.

Very attractive!

Sue
