OT: Opinions Please - Repro ???

Hello y'all...

I know most of you are purists - myself included - when it comes to our vintage.

I want to ask any & all y'all if you've seen a market for reproduction clothing. I know some folks in the Rockabilly crowd wear it. I'm curious if ya think there may be any appeal to anyone else.

I am trying to become & stay self-employed. I can sew, although it has been a well-kept secret for eons. ;) I thought I might start with a few circle skirts & go from there...

Eventually I can make dresses, slacks, tops, and even outerwear(i'm thinking faux fur coats 'cause I can't find a faux leopard vintage coat I actually like).

Well, I didn't mean to go on & on, but y'all know I do that, so...

Where would I research that market, ya think? I'll look at the auction sites first, but would love any input, suggestions, or opinions any of you have.

Thanks!

Hi Leisa,
I just looked through all of my etsy favorite sellers, and I can't quite recall the name of this one who does some cool sewing along those lines. MaiseyBrown, something something. She's in Oz. I'll see if I can find her shop again somehow.

Anyway, I believe that there is absolutely a market for these sorts of styles on etsy, from what I have observed. Just search under handmade "rockabilly dress" to see what I mean:

I think there is a market, but I can't speak knowledgeably about how thriving it is. I certainly have heard the names of the big repro sites for years. What about checking around on the handmade category of Etsy for starters?

I think a really cutely decorated or interesting fabric circle skirt would be a winner, among others. It would be easy as far as sizing goes.
