Looks like it could be Navaho. Or it could be a Mexican rug. Here is how to tell:
Carefully separate the weaving at the long edge, see what the interior long supporting cord is. If Navajo, it will have a doubled outer cord and it will be wool. If Mexican or South American, it will have a single outer cord of cotton. (You can tell wool vs. cotton because the cotton is loosely twisted and looks just like string you buy on a roll at the store. The wool will look like the white wool on the exterior on the rug, is softer and still has the natural lanolin in it.)
If it's Navajo, it's natural hand spun wool and pretty good. The pattern doesn't look very Navaho -- but the weaving is right, and a lot of patterns these days are pretty tourist oriented. Please feel free to U2U me for more info...
