OT The rescued kitten.

Some of you may have noticed that I mentioned on the Wallis thread that I rescued a kitten at the start of this week whom I found stumbling across the road with a plastic bag sellotaped to her head. Well here she is in her new home, along with her new brother, my fat Rocko.

I will have to go and read the story, but how good of you to rescue the kitten! She looks perfectly relaxed and at home - how wonderful. Is Rocka pleased with the new addition?

Awww, how sweet is your little kitten! I would say that she is a lucky little cat, finding you!
Best wishes from my herd of cats- Odin, Freya and Pickles. They are all rescue cats and I can say that a rescue cat makes the BEST pet!

Thank you Louise and heard for your best wishes, she is chewing a pair of Converse in the hall right now that she seems to just hate! Heehee.

Deborah, sadly for me Rocko just hates her right now. He has shared the house with other cats his whole life (he is the only cat that I have had that has not been rescued and was born under my sister's bed ten years ago this August, his mother and father though were strays that came to stay) first his mother, father and sibling then just his father Kit (the closest two cats I have ever saw) and for a good few years with Kit and Kitty (another stray I found on the road). He has been on his own since Kit passed following a mystery illness two years ago. I was devastated, as Kit turned up the week I started secondary school and I grew up with him. As such for the last two years Rocko has been spoiled rotten so he is not pleased to see another cat on his turf.

That said he is coming around a bit, she sleeps in the back bathroom at nights at the minute and he is quite happy now to sleep on the other side of the door now. As for her though I am just so glad I saw her, she was so tiny in the middle of a massive road had I been looking our the other window I wouldn't have seen her at all.

That's such a nice story about Kitten and your so kind for giving it nice home,
The only thing I have against pets is that they are with us for such a short time in comparison to us.

Oh I know Paul, far too short a time. I was so sad after Kit I never really thought I could get another cat, but she is the image of my dear Kit so I guess it was meant to be.

Gail, I am not quite sure what you mean (not angry or anything, just not sure - I worry so much about how things come across online sometimes) she just has her paws crossed in that picture, but boy does she have big paws for something so little when she spreads them out!

Emma.

Oh I was a bit confused there, she does appear to have rather large paws I thought that myself, but, no, I just checked only four.

lovely pics...thank you for saving the little kitten!! a bag taped to her head sounds awfull..she was menat to be with you...thats obvious!

I can't believe it, she has been with me a week today already! Rocko still hates her though, he does this shrill miaow thing and then has to get outside, he is really stressing me out.

I have an kitty named Tabby. She stays outside in the summer and inside in the winter. A couple of weeks ago this yellow cat came up and no one knows who it belongs to. They share the food but every once in a while I hear a loud hiss. Looks like I might have adopted this one, too.

Your new kitty is adorable and very lucky to have a new owner like you.

i bet that Rocko will come around eventually. He just may need more time.

BTW, does the kitten have a name?

Here's...
All about polydactyl or "double pawed" cats

Thanks so much for rescuing her. Unfortunately there are still people out there who still believe in the old concept of "drowning" unwanted kittens (or in this case putting a bafg over her head), rather than doing the responsible thing of taking the time to find a loving home - then promptly spaying/neutering the parents.

It is possible that the kitten got her head stuck in plastic by accident, but if it was no accident, i would want to see how the person who did it feels with plastic taped to their head.

cruelty to animals makes me sick.

Oh I know, it makes me sick too. I can't even think about what must have happened to here before I picked her up! Actually this afternoon I was holding her in my arms at my front door and when the car engine started up she started clawing at me like crazy and crying to get back into the house, where she promptly ran behind the bookcase and sat there shaking. Poor little thing, stupid me never even thought that she would react like that. On a more positive note though we have finally named her, Padmé it was decided, or rather I decided ... it makes me seem like a Star Wars geek, but really I just love Revenge of the Sith or was that Hayden Christensen?!

Emma.

Oh I forgot to say too, although the drowning thing sadly still happens a lot here, in this case I suspect it was rather that a group of people (usually teenage boys) just thought it would be entertaining to torture her. Sadly that happens a lot too.
