I'm surprised she is wearing fur - I thought the royal family stopped wearing fur in the 70s.

I suspect Kate has somewhat brought it back. It experienced a bit of a boom amongst the elite at horse races after a few particularly cold events.

The wide fur headbands are particularly in vogue here at the moment.

Fur is something you see very rarely around here, but the really cold weather recently has brought out a few sightings too, though usually not on younger people like me. Might be different in the "richer" parts of the city, I don't know. So far, I've not received any comments or strange looks for my nutria coat, and I've worn it to work a few times. I notice every winter when I go there that I see a lot more women wearing fur in Vienna (and I'm not talking about tourists - we hang around utterly non-touristy parts of the city).
