Pale pink metal side zipper

You know I am silly though, I have left this dress with my seamstress (telling her to hold on and see if I can find a metal zip before she uses a nylon one) so I don't know the exact length.

In between a skirt and a dress length? I'll get back to you, but if you could keep an eye out for me that would be great. Mine are all too long :(

I have a vintage one that I picked up from the charity shop a couple of weeks ago, I thought it may come in handy for something. Even the teeth are pink metal! It's 22 1/2" long though, is it too long?

Hi everyone. I've been on hiatus for a while. I have a question about the metal zips I find at the thrift stores. Is it a good idea to pick them up and keep on hand for repairs and restorations? This is not something I had even thought of until this post!

Thanks!

Patti

Patti, I always do (just not pink, it would seem!) if they are cheap.

Thanks for the help Lei and Linda, I am going to see the seamstress on Monday and will measure then!

:)

I always pick them up along with any vintage buttons so when I need them, I have them :) A new metal zipper if I bought one at the dry cleaners, would cost £2-£3 but at the charity shop, a bargain 20p AND they are almost always vintage too so they are period correct

I'm all set with the buttons....LOL! Next time I see some vintage zippers at the thrift store I'll be sure to pick them up!

Thanks! Patti

they are invaluable, to retain the authenticity...although l have many times replaced with new versions, as longas the buyer isnt a purist, l manage to sell on the item easily enough!
