PANEL/SHELF? BUST Help PLEASE I BEG :)

On this fabulous 50's Black Velvet Suzy Perette......

I am SOOOO scared to list anything with the way prices are going, this one is getting a reserve set....It has a full pellon lining and a back metal zipper and a very full skirt, I believe the velvet is silk or rayon, it's not that cheap cotton velvet and not a small size.

Can you see it? It's like a stand up panel.....
Lot's of pic's......TIA ~Tori

I came across that dress when I was researching Suzy Perette and thought it was weird that they used both labels for the same dress, oddly the ties on mine had a small eraser tip size hole on each side at the front so I added two rhinestone button decorations over the mended holes, I have no idea what would have caused the holes and was thinking that maybe there were buttons already there that someone tore off? How much is £250 in USA dollars?

Thanks Chris, wow, maybe I should put this on babylon instead for $472!

I'm still not sure I want to call this a shelf, anyone else??:love008:

Wow, Tori -- you always find the grandest things!

That bust treatment says to me "Up, up and away!"
I agree with Chris in that it's probably an inner construction term -- and it might be your best bet to draw attention to the treatment.

Regardless... it's a fabulous dress

I like that!.....

Ok, you guys aren't helping me, if it's not a shelf or panel bust how would YOU describe it? It certainly does draw the eyes to the bust saying looky here :)

You wouldn't believe some of the dresses on eBay described as a shelf bust and all they have on the bust are two little pleats....sigh...
~Tori

What's your working title Tori? I think panel bodice or bust would be visually correct, or apron? maybe not..

You could get shelf bust in the description by talking about how you wondered how it isn't echnically but has that effect..

No title yet, but once I get it in my head how I am going to describe the bust I will think up a title....

I think I'll work on listing the strapless dress for now, now that one is easy :eureka: it's strapless!
Or lolly on over to the VC&A which I really didn't want to do and ask for help there... ~Tori

Wow, I just came across a dress I sold that site. It is the unique print GiGi Young with velvet trim further down.

I would certainly use shelf bust in the title and then put panel or bib bust in the description. Almost looks like a pinnafore, too, doesn't it?

Have I told you lately that I love Suzie's?

Thanks Girls, with all those terms I can now come up with something.
I partically like bib bust and will work it in with shelf...You have inspired me...that will be my work for tommorrow as long as I can stay away from MY Space.....

Linda...great job on the video, the boys are just to adorable and I love the Beatles or Bust Shot...makes the heart melt looking at pictures of loved one's on that sliding video don't it?

Hi Tori - I don't blame you for the reserve! It would be a pity to sell that dress for $19.99 LOL! (although I can't imagine no one bidding on it!)

I do think though that July was an abysmal month for EVERYONE though. Our sales in our booth last month weren't wonderful (ok they were wretchid!) and our eBay sales weren't great either. Chairs I knew should bring in the multiple thousands didn't come CLOSE to the low reserve we had on them and then when we relisted without the reserve they only sold for $600! August already seems to be getting better and we've made more this month than we did all last month already! I think the abysmal heat wasn't helping anything!

I'm sure your piece will do wonderfully now - particularly now that it's getting close to fall people will be willing to spend a little more case and less strapped from having gone on vacation!

Hi Anessa, I haven't listed it yet but it will definitely get a reserve. Sales seem to be picking up, THANK GOD!
Do you deal in retro furniture?

Linda....I just put a link to myspace....I really NEED to stay away from it today....:D

YEP!! I deal in clothing and furniture - my fiancee (I hate that word) mostly does the furniture and I do clothing/accessories. I have been collecting vintage clothing well - most of my life (since middle school) and the furniture since early college years. I'm almost 27 now but this is my first time selling nicer pieces for myself, although I've been selling to other dealers for a VERY long time (helped put me through college LOL!) We're just now expanding to eBay although we've been buying forever. Just a few weeks ago I got to quit my stupid shop girl job to do this full time! Yippee!
