When researching pearlsnaps for a vintage western shirt i have, i found this little web site about the history of clothing fasteners and pearlsnaps:
http://www.pearlsnap.com/history.htm
not sure if all the info is accurate, but its quite interesting.
the site may be new, i couldnt get all the links to work. They do have dates the pearlsnaps were first used on each line ~ Odd, Sheplers, which are all over TX are made in KS~ that was a surprise, and "Mesquite" shirts, i have never heard of, are made here in Ft. Worth. Leddy's arent even mentioned and I know they have been around at least 50 years..
