Penney\'s dress, union labels, and Penney\'s label ??



Labels are throwing me for a loop, and the dress is so plain.

What date say you?

And why the paper labels??

Why the paper union label?? (I think that is what it is)

It is a very lightweight rayon, almost sheer. Unusual, I think, for the 60's.

Maybe a line for grandma?

It hits, me, just below the knees. It feels like a 40's style, but everything points to much later.

Not sure about the reason for the paper labels (the sheer fabric, maybe?), and it's really hard for me to get the style from your photo, so I won't hazard anything about that.

But according to the label resource, your dress has the 63-74 ILGWU label...

It's really simple.



I'm sure it is late 60's. I just haven't seen any labels in paper, or even anything in rayon from that period. Most of what I come across is a polyester blend, faux silk, cotton, or blend thereof.
