Hello Everyone!

Long time lurker, first time poster with a question about a Perry Ellis label...

I found a yummy semi-sheer dress from PERRY ELLIS with a BLACK label inside at one of my favorite thrift stores.

I know that Perry Ellis died in the mid 80s, and have seen his PORTFOLIO line, but I have never seen a woman's dress with a plain black label.

Any suggestions on how to date this?

I can't help about the label, but I did read his bio a while back... He died more or less insolvent. Everything he had was deeply in debt and had to be sold including his NY home, country estate and all his furniture. He had a weakness for buying bolts of fabric and was inspired by the fabric to create his clothes. He was known for the little pleat or fold in the top of his sleeve seams which gave extra ease for movement. However, as for the labels, I can't help.
