When I put the tux to the side - I get definition. When I try to photograph the front it's jet black even when I move the lamps to try and get better definition. When I left the lighting the same as the side, it was even blacker. All shots were taken minutes apart.
Its the high contrast between the jacket and your manni. Since there is more white showing in the view from the front, the black gets blacker. You can reduce it somewhat in photo editing by reducing the contrast.
Thanks, Jody! When I reduce contrast in my program the photo gets hazy. And when I photographed outside the colour is all wrong. Hazy is better than outside though; so I'll go that route.
Deborah, once you reduce the contrast, then use your "sharpen" tool to bring it back into virtual focus. That usually does the trick! And black is a bitch to shoot....
A good little trick with black on black photography is this. Shine a light on the background from behind and to the side of the item to be photographed. It will make the background just a bit lighter and the item in front stand out a bit.
Hope that helps. :camera:
