Pierre Cardin Mens Jacket/Sportcoat

Hello,

I checked label resource and was thinking this label most closely resembles the 80s label but I am kind of getting a 70s vibe from this jacket - I guess the lapels are maybe throwing me. Any thoughts? When I put it on my male manni it looked very feminine when button - with the nipped waist - I guess I associate 80s styles as being more boxy so that might be throwing me also. Jacket is a very nice wool (maybe wool blend but I dont think so) and is in a wonderful deep pine color with white pinstriping. In the label photo you can also just barely makeout the "pierre cardin" print all over the lining.

Finally - just as a matter of reference - do you prefer sportcoat or jacket? I don't know why I always struggle! :)

Thanks all - greatly appreciate your thoughts!

Maureen

It's definately 70s. Early too, 71 - 74 would be my guess - to accompany all those outrageously wide ties at the time. You are right about the 80s being more the Armani boxy, relaxed fit, not tight and tapered like the early 70s.

I agree with Jonathan with early '70s, and I'd call it jacket because it was probably originally a two piece suit. It's common for them to lose their trousers, as they get worn more.
