Many years ago a friend who had a menswear store hired a college student to work part time. A customer asked the student why the pima cotton shirts were so much more expensive than the regular cotton shirts.
She promptly replied that it was because it took a lot of poor little pimas to make a shirt.
Pima cotton has a long, staple fiber so it is smoother than cottons with short fibers. This is why fabrics with short fibers look a little fuzzy. Claire
