There are NO labels on this. I think it might be a house gown? Its completely see-through. Comes with belt but no belt loops. Side zipper (brass I think?) What is it?

The hem is down, there would have been a pink slip underneath originally (which is likely where the label was) but its definately 40s - patch pockets on the front of the hips, centre front button closure in combination with side zipper, elbow-length sleeves, V neckline, notched collar - those are all typical of the late 1940s. The length suggests to me its probably 1946/47

You will do well with this dress, with or without a slip, with lace being such a totally huge trend at the moment, plus this is a great 40s dress, for sure. In fact, it might be fun for buyers to imagine what slip they will find to wear with it; that is always enjoyable. I would address the hem, as my first priority.

So fabulous with the ruffles. From the date Jonathan gave 1946 to 1947 I can envision a whole romantic scene in my head of a soldier home from the war.
Must of been such a time. So, so pretty.

Absolutely gorgeous. The ruffley details are just so lovely.

I agree that you should sell it as is (though if you have an appropriate slip for sale, you could cross-link to it in the dress listing). Someone might come up with a creative way to wear it without a slip, or envision it with a contrasting slip, or what have you.

This could be worn with a cami and leggings. Or you could get a slip made expressly for it. Brooke, did I read somewhere that you're from Albuquerque? If so, Seams to You is a good seamstress.

That is a great idea! I am actually going to sell as is but I am going to mention the cami and leggings. That could be super cute. I actually live in Santa Fe but go to Albuquerque often to go thrifting! Thanks for your help! I really appreciate it!
