Playing dress-up, as usual...

My friends Kat, Sarah, and I have been at it again, folks. Dressing up in our finery even if we have to invent a reason, and losing costume contests to 20somethings in 80s clothing wherever we roam.

Sarah and I hit "Spring Fling on Ponce Vintage Pop-Up Market" last Saturday. Failing to measure beforehand (why, when I have a tape measure on my keychain?), we were snapped rudely back to reality by our middle-aged waistlines and mid-century frocks. The shrieks of horror, I mean laughter, from the changing room could be heard for miles. Remember folks -- if the dress won't zip, do NOT force it and hurt the vintage frock. Just give up and laugh. There IS another one out there that will fit you, whatever your size.

Later that same day (talk about a great Saturday!), Kat joined us for the premiere of "Bessie" (HBO, starring Queen Latifah). I'd met Sarah on that set last June. It was my first experience as an extra. Our three solid days (4+ if you are talking normal work days) of shooting resulted in maybe 3 seconds of screen time for all ~300 of us. You'll notice I'm wearing one of the dresses from the recent Vintage Fashion Show. It will not last much longer (fabric is shattering), so wearing it as much as possible before it gives up the ghost.

In the movie itself I'm the only one you can make out at all, and that's only if you know me really well, know what I was wearing, and have acute vision. But we're not in it for the fame and glory. We're in it for the clothes!

Maybe this should have been a blog post? Hm...
