Please can you help date this Whiting & Davis Mesh bag

Hi All,

I have recently found this bag which belonged to my Mother and I am interested to find out how old it may be.
Also, I would like to clean it but too scared to do anything to it!
Any information you can share would be great thanks,

Hi,

There is a lot written on this respected company including these forums.

W&D made some gorgeous looking bags, they made clothes to.

I am going to say post war possibly the 1950s although the bag does look older, I think 1950s.

Do you really want to clean it or have cleaned, the patina is part of its charm?
 
I also wonder about cleaning it. I'd leave it alone, myself, as it looks to be in lovely condition already. My guess is post WWII to early 1950s.
