Hello

Is this Nina Ricci blouse authentic and is it vintage or modern? It has a bow on the neckline, gathered sleeves and buttons run down the back, each with the same flower design as seen in the second picture of the label.
Also, is it okay if I ask what era my mannequin is from? I'm thinking 1962-1965 but I'm still very much learning and guessing. Let's see how close I am...:)

Thank you
Mel

Thank you Joules, I assumed because of the asian (Japanese?) writing on the tag that it might be a fake? I also couldn't find a 'Made in' tag.

Some designers run a specific ready-t0-wear line for the Asian market.

I agree that the blouse is fairly contemporary and see no reason to think it would be fake.

Re: the mannequin. Is there any writing, labels, manufacturer details or signs or anything that might help? I've seen similar dressmakers dummies from many eras including modern ones so more information would help with dating. Why do you think it's early '60s?

The base of your dress form does appear to be an older style; it could be from the 60s. But without more info and/or closer-up photos, I really can't hazard a guess.

And I agree that there's no reason to think your Nina Ricci blouse isn't authentic.

Hi again

Thanks for helping me with the blouse, even with my average photos.

Re dressmaker:- I couldn't find any labels etc but the following is written on the inside:- J 32 A, this is hand written on all the 10 separate pieces that make her up. She is quite heavy, I think the base is iron, she adjusts with the wheels and inside wing nuts. The lady I purchased her from said she was at least 60 years old, I think 45, no more than 50 years. I had another which was stolen, the reason for me buying this one and hoping she may be from a similar era. They are sort of alike but the missing one had no adjusting wheels, just wing - nuts and her shape was a bit different as well so I think that one (which may of been an Acme) was older. I also have a modern one (Singer or Diana-the label is missing) who is quite light and adjusts with a turn dial - she just doesn't seem to have the quality or even workmanship of my other ones...:)
I could try to take a photo of the inside...

Oh, as an aside, but an important one, we cannot "authenticate" anything on this forum.... That term rises to a level of inspection and scrutiny that nobody here can do just by looking at photos. We can all give our opinions, but that doesn't rise to the level of an authentication. Even though the consensus is that your blouse is a true Nina Ricci, please don't take that as gospel. In this specific instance, I can't see that it wouldn't be, as I doubt there is a big market for Ricci fakes. But for many, many other labels out there that are indeed faked often, one needs an inspection and verification, preferably hands-on, by an expert on that specific label, era, style, etc.
