Please help identify a necklace?

Hello, I'm new to the site and am hoping that someone here might help me identify a piece of costume jewelry. This very heavy 16" necklace was examined by a jeweler who found no identifying marks. He verified via acid test that it is not brass, but suggested it might be gold vermeil. I've searched the web for necklaces even remotely similar and have found nothing so far. Any suggestions?

It's lovely -- and looks very much like a mid-century choker (probably 60's) with fringed tassels, and is likely gold plated. Very nice.
