Please Help Identify by by Lining Only

Sad, but true. My nice jacket has no maker tag. Only a "Made in France" tag on collar, a "100% Pure Wool" tag inside, and a tag found in the inside breast pocket with " 737 589" (a serial number?).
I hope that the best hint is the lining. The lining has a stylized letter "C" or is it a "G" ?.

My camera has not done this jacket justice, the color is washed out. I will try again in better light and repost.

Thank you for you help!

I'm guessing that you're hoping that the "C" or "G" is a particular designer?

Can't help you there, but it's hand tailored and very nice quality. Nehru jackets have been made at various times since 1966 but it's a bit hard to tell how old it is without knowing more. Do you think the lining could be silk, rayon or polyester? I'm guessing one of the first two.

The number in the pocket probably refers to the order number. Sometimes the tailor will be nice and also tell us the name of the orderer and - best of all - the date.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I am hoping the the lining would provide a clue. This jacket is so well made, it seems odd that no identification can be found or touted.

I guess that the lining is rayon, it feels to course to be silk.

When I found this jacket, I thought it was a Nehru jacket, but some said it may be a priest's jacket. Same thing maybe, I don't know.

Thanks again!

They look more like horse shoes and make me think of a logo that is in the back of my mind.... like Omega the watch company maybe. Did they make clothing too?
