Hi everyone,

I found this coat today. It looks almost new! The label inside says John Shillito Co. Cincinnati, Ohio. There is another label that says Einiger Co., designed by Luckman. There is just one button with a button loop on the same side as the button (so I assume its missing a button for the opposite side, though it doesnt look like there was ever a button there). there are also two long straps on the inside of the coat but I dont know what they are for. You can see all of this in the photos. Any info would help. thanks alot!

Wow, and it's RED!

I think 50s as well, and I see at least a couple coats listed as being of that vintage--with Einiger and Luckman on the labels--online.

I agree with 50's.

Where are the straps? Are they something that could hook over the arms so it hangs in a certain way?

Lovely coat! If you can wait, I would recommend holding off until the fall to list it. Not many people are thinking about winter coats.

agree also on 50s, and to hold it until fall; you should realize a better price that way.

wow, red cashmere! sigh!!

Bee-yoo-tee-ful coat--in my fave color, no less! Red cashmere--it doesn't get any better than that!

Einiger camelid wools are top shelf! Apparently a huge name in the 50s and into the 60s, from what I found when I did some research a couple years ago. I had an Einiger vicuna coat that was awesome, and I've seen several other vicuna and cashmere coats listed online--they seem to bring really good prices. I don't know if they loomed anything but the camelid family of wools. If they specialized in them, no wonder they are so wonderful!

Thanks so much for all of the feedback! I sell exclusively on etsy now so I think I can list it and just leave it up until it sells. Does anyone know what those red straps are for on the inside? There are no buttons or corresponding straps on the other side of the coat so i do not know what they are for?

Ps..would someone be so kind as to PM me and suggest a selling price for this coat? its the 2nd red cashmere I have found within the last year and I think I undersold the last one. Thanks again. :kiss2:

northstarvintage,
the straps are on the interior of the coat hanging down from the white label. there are two. they are on top of each other so it looks like one strap in the photo. you can see them in the photo. cant figure out what the heck they are for!

Ah, I had that epiphany last nite! My waist is a 27 and the straps barely fit around MY waist. Wow those women were really tiny back in the day!
